Revision as of 10:59, 28 December 2025

This is a list of Busy Beaver functions for Turing machines and other simple Turing-complete systems and their current lower bounds.

I only add functions that follow the requirements below:

  • The function must grow uncomputably fast, like BB(n).
  • The function must not have similar champions to other function, like Σ(n).
  • The function must not be arbitrary complex.

Turing machines

Classic

Maximum number of steps done by a n-state, m-symbol Turing machine with k+1 undefined instructions before halting. TMs halt when they are on an undefined transititon.
